Lingfield Silver Band was first formed over 100 years ago (we celebrated our centenary last year!). We are a friendly community-based music group and can often be found during the summer months at one of the local fetes -- look out for the green uniforms... You'll also see us out at Lingfield War memorial on Remembrance Sunday, and on Saturdays during Advent we play carols in the village centre.
Whilst primarily a village band, we play at various engagements around Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Repertoire is varied and includes arrangements of classical and contemporary pieces along with the traditional marches and some classic brass band repertoire.
Although most of the seats are currently filled, we are always on the look-out for new members across all sections of the band. At present we are especially short of trombone players and a percussionist (generally just kit drums -- and we have our own kit in the band room ready for use).
If you're interested in joining us, please either contact Julie on 01342 833400 or send us a message via the contact form.
Experienced brass players are welcome to come along to a rehearsal for a blow, either to try us out or just for fun if you're visiting the area. But please do try to let us know in advance!
The band operates a thriving training band under the direction of Julie Scrace. Membership is open to anyone of any age wishing to learn a brass instrument in a traditional British banding environment. We have a number of instruments available to be lent to committed learners and band members. Feel free to send us a message via the contact form for more information!
Whilst we are currently not a contesting band in the normal sense, we have recently become involved in local contesting with SCABA, and have performed well within our section -- especially in the Quartet and Ensemble contests.
If you would like to book the band for your own event, please contact Julie on 01342 833400 or via our contact form.
The band practice on Thursday evenings in the band room behind the Greyhound Inn, Plaistow Street, Lingfield, from 7:45pm until 9:45pm. New players are always welcome.
